PROGRAMME OFFERED WITH ADMISSION REQUIREMENT
1. B. Sc DEGREE PROGRAMME IN MICROBIOLOGY (FULL TIME)
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
i. UME: Minimum Five credits at Ordinary Levels in G. C. E., S.S.C.E., or their equivalent examinations. The credits should include Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics, and in English language. Combination of 5 credit passes at not more two sittings from either WAEC or NECO or both as the case may be, are also allowed.
ii DIRECT ENTRY
A) Three Advanced Level passes in Biology and Chemistry plus credits at Ordinary Level as specified in (i) above
B) OND, NCE, in related subject plus credits at Ordinary Levels as in (i) above.
C) Registered nurses with double qualification i.e General Nursing Certificate and Midwifery or Psychiatry or its equivalent. This is in addition to U. M. E. requirement.
2. MASTERS OF SCIENCE (M.Sc.) DEGREE PROGRAMME IN MICROBIOLOGY (FULL/PART TIME)
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
The programme is open to candidates who have obtained a Bachelors degree with at least Second Class Lower Division in Microbiology from the University of Uyo or any other University recognized by the National University Commission (NUC). Non-microbiology graduates with at least a third class degree or Microbiology graduates with third class degree shall be considered if the candidates possess in addition a Postgraduate Diploma in Microbiology from any recognized University before registration for the Master of Science (M.Sc) programme in Microbiology.
3. DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY (Ph.D.) DEGREE PROGRAMME IN MICROBIOLOGY (FULL/PART TIME)
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
The Ph.D programme is open only to students with Masters degree in Microbiology from the University of Uyo or any other approved University. Preferences will however be given to candidates with not less than 60% average score in the M.Sc degree.
