PROGRAMME OFFERED WITH ADMISSION REQUIREMENT
(Full time)

B.Sc. Botany and Ecological Studies
a. UME: Five credits at Ordinary Levels in G.C.E., S.S.C.E. or their equivalent examinations in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology or Agriculture.
b. Direct Entry:
i. Three Advanced Level passes in Biology, Chemistry and Physics plus credits at Ordinary Level specified in (a) above.
ii. OND, NCE, HND or B.Sc. in a related subject plus credits at Ordinary Levels as specified in (a) above.
ADMISSION CRITERIA PGDB:
PGDB will be opened to holders of First degree or their equivalent in Botany and allied fields from Universities recognized by University of Uyo.
MASTER OF SCIENCE REQUIRMENT:
Prospective students must have obtained the Bachelor’s degree with at least a Second Class Lower Division in Botany, Agriculture, Forestry, Biology, Environmental Science and any other related field from recognized universities approved by the Senate of the University of Uyo, Uyo. Students with low second class lower or third class grade, who have completed the Post graduate Diploma in Botany will also be eligible for admission into the M.Sc. programme.
DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY (Ph.D) REQUIREMENT:
The Ph.D. Programme is open to candidates with Master’s degrees, as shall be determined by the Departmental Postgraduate Board, from this University or other approved Universities. Only candidates with not less than a ‘B’ grade (60% average) score in the M.Sc degree will be admitted for a direct Ph.D. programme. In a situation where the prospective candidate seeking for admission had an M.Sc degree outside Botany and Foresty, the candidate may be considered for Ph.D admission.
In such a case, the candidate so admitted shall offer a non-terminal M.Sc. degree programme courses and makes an average score of 60% (that is, a ‘B’ grade) before being advised to proceed for a Ph.D. programme by the Departmental Postgraduate Board.
