About the Department

The department of obstetrics and gynaecology of the University of Uyo is domiciled in the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital premises. It is one of the 16 departments in the faculty of clinical sciences. It provides training for level 500 medical students of the university, which culminates in the students taking the part III MBBS professional examination.

Prior to this, students receive didactic lectures in the class room as well as clinical postings in the clinics, operating theatre, delivery wards, antepartum wards, postpartum wards and gynaecological wards.

As a clinical department, the lecturers are equally medical consultants in different specialties of medicine. They provide clinical services to pregnant women as well as other women with gynaecological problems.
