Registrar
Mrs. Blossom Okorie was born in July 22, 1965 in Kano State, though an indigene of Ikot Umiang Ede, Etinan Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, had part of her Primary Education at Presbyterian Primary School, Enwe Street, Uyo and later completed her Primary Six at Group School, Ikot Ibok/Ikot Nte, Etinan, where she obtained her First School Leaving Certificate in 1978.
From there, she proceeded to Adiaha Obong Secondary Commercial School Offot, Uyo for her Secondary School, Eniong School education and obtained her General Certificate of Education (GCE) in 1983. In her thirst for more knowledge, motivated her to further her tertiary education in the defunct University of Cross River State, and by 1988, she bagged Bachelor of Arts (Hons.).
She served and completed her one year mandatory NYSC progrmme in 1989. In order to further broaden her academic horizon, she registered for Postgraduate Diploma programme where she obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Education in 2001, and Masters of Arts in English in 2007 respectively.
The 8th substantive Registrar began her career as Mistress II in Community Comprehensive Secondary School, Four Towns, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State in 1994 and later transferred her service to the University of Uyo in 2000. This astute administrator with track record of commitment and unbroken loyalty to the University of Uyo has climbed the ladder of the administrative cadre and garnered experience as reflected on all the sensitive positions she was privileged to hold in the University.
Between 2000-2005, Mrs. Blossom Okorie served as Assistant Registrar and Faculty Officer in Faculty of Pharmacy; 2005-2009 – Senior Assistant Registrar and Faculty Officer in Faculty of Agriculture; 2009-2011 – Senior Assistant Registrar and Faculty Officer in Faculty of Arts; 2011-2015 – Principal Assistant Registrar and Head of Academic Staff Establishment, Directorate of Human Resources; 2015-2018 – Deputy Registrar and Secretary, College of Health Sciences. She was the Deputy Registrar and Head of Unit, Directorate of Information and Public Relations before her new appointment.
As a committed and experienced administrator, the new Registrar has served either as Secretary, Member and Chairperson in several Committees and Panels of the University. Apart from these, she has attended different life transforming professional conferences/workshops within the University and Nigeria.
She is a member of professional bodies, such as; Association of Nigerian Universities Professional Administrators (ANUPA), member, Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), Chartered and a Fellow of Institute of Cooperate Administration. Mrs. Blossom Okorie is a person with remarkable visual presence, who is endowed with amiable personality; a committed leader, a loyal follower, God-fearing humble and dependable person who has made concrete and innovative contributions to the University in her capacity as administrator.
The new Registrar has received several awards of excellence from different organizations. Mrs. Okorie has rendered community service and special service to the University of Uyo, her alma mater in diverse ways. As a devout Christian, she advocates for peaceful coexistence for maximum productivity.
Mrs. Blossom Ebere Okorie is happily married to Dr. Ebere James Okorie. They have loving children and grandchildren.

These imprints and impressive qualities beautifully define Mrs. Blossom Ebere Okorie, the 8th Registrar of the University of Uyo, whose appointment reflects a sterling career marked by professionalism, loyalty, and administrative excellence.
Born on 22 July 1965 in Kano State, Mrs. Okorie hails from Ikot Umiang Ede, Etinan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
She began her educational journey at Presbyterian Primary School, Enwe Street, Uyo, before completing her primary education at Group School, Ikot Ibok/Ikot Nte, Etinan, where she obtained her First School Leaving Certificate in 1978. She proceeded to Adiaha Obong Secondary Commercial School, Offot, Uyo, and obtained the General Certificate of Education (GCE) in 1983.
Her passion for academic excellence led her to the then University of Cross River State, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in 1988. Following the successful completion of the National Youth Service Corps in 1989, she further enhanced her academic credentials with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education in 2001 and a Master of Arts in English in 2007.
Mrs. Okorie began her professional career as Mistress II at Community Comprehensive Secondary School, Four Towns, Uyo, before transferring her service to the University of Uyo in 2000. Since then, she has built an outstanding administrative career spanning more than two decades, distinguished by dedication, competence, and progressive leadership.
Her career trajectory within the University reflects remarkable growth and extensive experience across key administrative units. She served as Assistant Registrar and Faculty Officer in the Faculty of Pharmacy (2000–2005); Senior Assistant Registrar and Faculty Officer in the Faculty of Agriculture (2005–2009).
Thereafter, she became the Faculty of Arts (2009–2011); Principal Assistant Registrar and Head, Academic Staff Establishment in the Directorate of Human Resources (2011-2015); Deputy Registrar and Secretary, College of Health Sciences (2015–2018); and subsequently Deputy Registrar and Head, Directorate of Information and Public Relations, a position she held until her appointment as Registrar.
Throughout her career laced with distinction, Madam has served the University in several strategic capacities as Secretary, Member, and Chairperson of numerous committees and panels, contributing significantly to policy implementation, institutional development, and administrative reforms.
She has also participated in several professional conferences, workshops and capacity-building programmes aimed at strengthening university administration and leadership. Aside carrying out her job descriptions with pride, she has over time been a bridge between the poor and the rich, thereby serving as a second mother to the rejected both at-home and outside.
A committed professional, Mrs. Okorie is a member of the Association of Nigerian Universities Professional Administrators (ANUPA), a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered), and a Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Administration. Her professional accomplishments have been complemented by numerous awards and recognitions in appreciation of her exemplary service and contributions to higher education.
On 28 April 2023, the 9th Governing Council of the University of Uyo, under the chairmanship of Iyom (Barr) Njideka Bernadette Nwachukwu, approved her appointment as the 8th Registrar of the University of Uyo. She formally assumed office on 1 May 2023, bringing to the office a wealth of experience, institutional knowledge, and an unwavering commitment to excellence in University administration.
She holds sway as the Secretary to Senate, Secretary to Governing Council, Secretary to Matriculation, Secretary to Congregation, and Secretary to Convocation in our prestigious Citadel of Academic Excellence.
As Registrar, Mrs. Blossom Ebere Okorie continues to exemplify the ideals of integrity, accountability, professionalism, and dedicated service, providing strategic administrative leadership in support of the University’s vision of academic excellence, innovation and sustainable institutional growth.
Given her peaceful demeanor, this beautiful soul had worked excellently with the former Vice-chancellor, Prof. Nyaudoh Ukpabio Ndaeyo, later committed to the successful tenure of the Immediate Past Acting Vice- Chancellor, Prof. Samuel Gbadabo Odewumi, and now working with the new University helmsman, Prof. Christopher Nyong Ekong, with ease.
