School of Continuing Education
SCHOOL OF CONTINUING EDUCATION
The University has established a School of Continuing Education to complement its efforts in the development of middle and higher level manpower for the nation. The School of Continuing Education offers fulltime/ evening/weekend/part-time academic and professional programmes for workers and others who may not be able to undertake regular full-time studies in the University.
PHILOSOPHY
The philosophy of the School is to supplement the efforts of the University of Uyo in its middle and higher level manpower development for the nation. To this end the School of Continuing Education offers Full-time programmes at the Certificate and Diploma levels and Part-time Undergraduate and Postgraduate degree levels. The programmes of the School are meant to provide opportunities mainly to workers who are not able to undertake regular full time studies in Universities as well as sub-degree training for capacity building and educational advancements.
OBJECTIVES
The Objectives of the School are specifically:
i. To provide access for people to go into professional and academic programmes at the degree level through certificate and Diploma Programmes of the School.
ii. To offer opportunities for full time workers to earn University degrees.
iii. To offer opportunities of professional training for practitioners in the public service and industries.
iv. The School offers opportunities for people to receive effective preparation through extramural studies to take the UTME/GCE/WASCE/NECO and other examinations.

i. The Board of the School is composed of the following officers of the University:
The Vice Chancellor as Chairman, the other members is Deputy Vice Chancellor (Admin.), Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Registrar, Bursar, University Librarian, Director, School of Continuing Education, Representative of Council, Dean, Postgraduate School, Dean of Servicing Faculties, Dean of Student Affairs, Director, Institute of Education, two Representatives of Senate, Director, Academic Planning and the Administrative Secretary as secretary.
