UNIUYO GOVERNING COUNCIL MEETS, PROMOTES 89 TO PROFESSORIAL RANK

The Governing Council of the University of Uyo at her meeting held on Friday, December 16,2022 approved the promotion of deserving staff of the University to various ranks in the 2022 appraisal year.

These include 89 staff whose external assessment reports for appointment into the professorial cardre had returned positive. It comprises of 35 Professors and 54 Associate Professors.

Others promoted by the   Governing Council at the 98th Meeting were 59 Teaching Staff in the Senior and   other ranks. A total of 433 staff in the Senior Administrative and Technical cardre were promoted. Also, 263 Junior Staff were promoted from the Junior cardre into other Senior cadre of the various service branches of the University

The Pro – Chancellor and Chairman of Council, ( Barr ) Iyom  Bemedette N. Nwachukwu reaffirmed the commitment of the 9th Governing Council towards providing an  enabling  environment for the smooth running of the University by expediting actions on matters pertaining to the welfare of  all stakeholders  in the University especially staff and students. She stated that a harmonious working relationship between the authorities and the workers can only be guaranteed when issues of welfare the priority it deserves. She congratulated all those promoted and urged them to continue to give the best to justify the elevation to higher ranks.

Also speaking , the Vice – Chancellor, Professor Nyaudoh Ndaeyo, reiterated  the resolve by the Management of the University to ensure that no deserving staff is allowed to stagnate unduly at any rank ad pledged to continue to present matters of staff welfare as priorities before the Governing Council.

The Vice – Chancellor expressed his appreciation to the Governing Council for approving the promotions as recommended by various Appointment and Promotions committees. The Vice – Chancellor on behalf of Governing Council, Management and Senate seized the opportunity to wish all members of the University Community a Merry Christmas and a  Happy New Year in advanced as well as to announce the closure of the University for the Christmas holidays from Friday, December 23,2022 from 12 noon to Tuesday, January 3,2023.
