The 9^th Governing Council led by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Barr. Njideka Nwachukwu  on Friaday, 13^th August, 2021 went on a site inspection to the 1000 Hostel Space donated by Niger Delta Development Commission ( NDDC ). Members of the Council took a tour around the edifice under construction to see the progress of work on going at the project site.

The Pro-Chancellor ,Barr. Njideka  Nwachukwu commended the Minister Niger Delta, His Excellency, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio and NDDC Sole Administrator, Barr. Effiong Akwa for resuscitating the project which had been abandoned. She also applauded the Management of the University of Uyo led by Prof. Nyaudoh U. Ndaeyo for the persistence and proactivity in getting the project restarted within his short time in office.

The Chairman voiced Council’s satisfaction in the momentum towards the completion of the project, which is evident in the work done within the last three months. She urged the contractor to be committed to the completion of the project not later than September, as promised. This is to enable the University put the facility to use immediately.

The Pro-Chancellor, further expressed gratitude to the Visitor to the University, the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of  Nigeria, His Excellency, Muhammadu  Buhari, GCFR, for appointing her as well as others particularly the members to the Governing Council stating that their appointment further buttresses the fact the President is passionate about education. She assured the University Community that they were carefully selected for this assignment and would endeavor to deliver on the mandate of taking the University higher than they met it
